Who we are
Ummazo (ummazo.com) is a free community platform that connects Muslim businesses, members and community services, starting in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. This page explains what information we keep, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Members: name, mobile number (your login), town, area / Jamath and, if you choose, your Economic Chamber. Your password is stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form; nobody, including the admin, can read it.
- Businesses: business and owner name, trade, what you sell, address, area, pincode, phone, photos / logo, products and prices that you add.
- Things you post: requirements ("I need this"), enquiries you send to a business (name, phone, message), and shops you suggest to us.
- Technical: your IP address, kept with sign-ups, enquiries and login attempts only to stop spam and misuse; and daily visit counts (how many people visited, which pages and search words) that are counted in totals and are not linked to you.
What is shown publicly
- Business listings, including the business phone number, are public: you agree to this when you list a business.
- Your member mobile number is not public. A requirement's contact number is shown only to logged-in members.
- Mosque office-bearer numbers are shown only to logged-in members approved by the admin.
How we use it
To run the site: show listings, let buyers contact sellers, send you login details and important updates on WhatsApp, keep the site safe, and understand which features help people. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who else handles it
- Our hosting company (Hostinger) stores the site and its data on its servers.
- When you tap a WhatsApp or call button, your own phone app opens; WhatsApp (Meta) then handles that chat under its own policy.
- We may share information if the law requires it.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie that keeps you logged in and remembers your language. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
As long as your account or listing is active. When you ask us to delete it, we remove it from the site within 7 days. Automatic backups on our server are replaced within 7 days; offline backup copies are kept privately and replaced over time.
Your choices
You can see and edit your details any time in "My account" (👤) or your business page. To get a copy of your data, correct it, delete your account or remove a listing, message us on WhatsApp. We reply within 7 days.
Age
Ummazo is meant for people aged 18 and above.
Security
We use encrypted connections (https), hashed passwords, limits on repeated attempts and daily backups. No system is perfectly safe, so please use a password you do not use elsewhere.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below; for important changes we will also tell members.
